HAS the world gone mad?
Since October 7, in retaliation against the murder of 1,200 Israelis by the Hamas (Islamic Resistance Movement), the Israel Defense Forces has bombed almost every day, civilian buildings, hospitals and even convoys bringing food and medicine to Gaza. The latest estimate by Gaza’s health ministry is 20,000 Palestinians, 8,000 children, killed through US-made and US-financed bombs. The United Nations has estimated that 500,000 civilians — again mostly children — are starving, most surviving through water.
There certainly have been cases in history where more innocent people and more children have been murdered by ruthless powers — but these were kept secret, such as, most notoriously, the Nazi genocide of Jews, which was disclosed to the world only many years after. The Gaza genocide, however, is the only case in which two nations — Israel and the US — are killing children because of technology-based media right in front of our eyes. Several of the accompanying images were by journalists, who were hunted down and killed by the Israelis — 68 such media martyrs so far.
As a father and grandfather, I can’t help but shed a tear for these children — and their parents. How can mankind in this day and age allow these atrocities to happen?
